NEWS:  Nebraska Bill LB 1100 Creates Corporate Immunity, Shifts Costs to Taxpayers

Press release at this link

2026 LEGISLATIVE SESSION NOTES:

On March 18, 2026, at the Nebraska State Capitol, truck crash victims, families, and state senators stood united against LB 1100.
Their message: this bill protects big trucking and insurance companies, shifts the cost of injuries onto Nebraska families and taxpayers, and undermines the right to a jury trial.  These aren’t policies—they’re real lives. Nebraskans deserve accountability, safer roads, and justice decided by juries—not corporations.

Nebraskans speak out against LB 1100:

Mrs. Tressa N, Adams County,  On November 17, 2021, Tressa’s 19-year-old daughter Emma and her dear friend Korey lost their lives when they were rear-ended by a tractor-trailer in rural Wyoming.  The driver had a documented history of dangerous driving, including getting caught covering his drivecam in the week before the crash, but the motor carrier hired him and kept him on the road without consequence.

Roger G., Seward, Nebraska,  Roger’s wife, Mary, was struck by a commercial truck attempting a U-turn on Highway 15 in January 2023, causing her head to hit the windshield with such force that it shattered the glass and resulted in a severe traumatic brain injury. The injury has permanently changed her life, leaving her unable to speak comfortably about the incident and deeply affecting her ability to function as she once did. Once the heart of a large family and caregiver to many—including a disabled adult daughter—Mary can no longer live the life she built, and her husband now carries those responsibilities alone.

Zac and Kesi Harger.  At age 34, Zac Harger—a physically active warehouse worker, husband, and father—suffered catastrophic injuries when a drunk excavating company truck driver attempted an illegal U-turn across four lanes of traffic. The crash left Zac with a severe traumatic brain injury, multiple fractures throughout his body, nerve damage, and internal organ injuries, permanently altering every aspect of his life. Despite the company denying liability, Zac’s injuries were so severe that he married his wife in his hospital room during his recovery.
